As a Skilled Services Technician, you will collaborate closely with the engineering team to provide installation and break/fix functions for clients, which includes installing and testing both new software and/or hardware. You will also maintain servers and/or network hardware, diagnose and troubleshoot hardware failures, and provide technical support—escalating unresolved issues when necessary. Your role will include providing telephonic, remote, and on-site support, often acting as an informal team leader.
Key responsibilities:
- Provides support when problems arise and maintains a log and/or list of all the required repairs.
- Carries out routine server and/or network maintenance tasks.
- Sets up and maintains backup systems for desktops and file servers.
- Engages with clients and assists with software and hardware installation and break/fix functions at levels requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
- Ensures operational hardware and associated software are installed on client sites.
- Tests installations and aids in fixing performance issues of installed software, escalating problems where applicable.
- Contributes to client engagement and team success, working collaboratively to ensure quality solutions for clients.
- Proactively monitors the ITSM queues.
- May act as an informal team leader.
- Performs any other related task as required.

Academic qualifications and certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant vendor and product certification, along with required vocational training, is preferred.
- A+ certification is beneficial, but not crucial.
Required experience:
- Solid demonstrable related experience gained within a similar IT environment.
- Solid demonstrable related experience with relevant operating systems on server platforms.
