About the Job: The company is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are seeking a Software Architect for the company LXD and MicroCloud, with a focus on making clusters of compute, with system containers or virtual machines, "just work."

The role involves driving the architecture, design, and evolution of LXD and the company MicroCloud, which combines LXD with Ceph and OVN to create a resilient cloud infrastructure. As a Software Architect, you will work across the software stack from low-level kernel work to high-level management APIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture of LXD and MicroCloud.
  • Mentor and develop colleagues.
  • Develop in Golang and C.
  • Review code and ensure security and performance.
  • Display technical leadership within the company and its communities.
  • Work from home with global travel twice annually for company events.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional academic record with a degree in Computer Science or STEM.
  • Experience in Golang and C.
  • Knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure and their APIs.
  • Familiarity with storage, networking, virtualization, and container technologies.
  • Experience with concurrent, distributed systems.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).

Work Conditions:

  • This position is fully remote, available in EMEA and the Americas.
  • Global travel is required twice a year for team sprints.
