We are looking for a Software Architect to lead the architecture and design of Canonical LXD and MicroCloud, which integrates LXD with Ceph and OVN. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Golang and C, as well as experience with modern cloud infrastructure technologies and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture of LXD and MicroCloud.
- Mentor and develop colleagues in their career progression.
- Develop applications using Golang and C.
- Review code produced by other engineers.
- Ensure product security and performance.
- Demonstrate technical leadership within Canonical and the broader community.
Requirements:
- Exceptional academic background with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
- Experience in Golang and C programming languages.
- Knowledge of storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Familiarity with container technologies and concurrent distributed systems.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience with Linux (preferably Debian or Ubuntu).
Work Conditions:
- Home-based position available in EMEA and the Americas.
- Global travel required twice annually for company events.
