The role of Software Architect (Payments) involves building and scaling next-generation payment systems across merchant acquiring and core payment processing. This high-impact position requires owning backend architecture and shaping the technical direction of the company's payments platform. You will act as the technical bridge between the Chief Architect and engineering execution, translating product intent into scalable systems.
Key Responsibilities:

Platform Architecture & Ownership: Own the architecture spanning Merchant Management, POS, and eCommerce acceptance. Ensure high throughput, low latency, and reliability across various flows such as authorization, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.

Technical Direction Across Squads: Lead and mentor multiple engineering squads in technical architectural direction, ensuring quality and delivery standards are met.

Product & Business Alignment: Collaborate with Product Owners to translate requirements into scalable designs that meet regulatory standards.

Protocol, Integration & Hands-on Engineering: Define integration architecture and contribute to critical Java microservice components, ensuring system operability and performance.

API & Event-Driven Architecture: Design REST APIs with a focus on idempotency and fault tolerance, and implement event-driven processes using RabbitMQ.

AI-Augmented Engineering: Utilize AI tools for architecture reviews, test generation, and automation of repetitive tasks.
What We're Looking For:
- 12 to 15 years of backend or platform engineering experience, particularly in building production card payment systems.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
- Deep knowledge of ISO 8583 and payment messaging with experience in the full transaction lifecycle.
- Experience integrating with payment gateways and processors, including REST and ISO-based integration.
- Familiarity with RabbitMQ or Kafka and designing transactional event flows.
- Leadership capabilities to guide and mentor a team of engineers.
Core Technology Stack:
- Required: Java, Spring Boot, ISO 8583, jPOS, RabbitMQ, Redis, REST APIs, Microservices.
- Strong Assets: Azure, AWS, Tokenization, CI/CD.
