We are looking for a Software Engineer to work on Linux, cloud infrastructure, pipelines, automation, and open source software. In this role, you will collaborate closely with industry giants such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to make Ubuntu the best cloud platform available.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building automated, highly reliable image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines
- Designing, building, and integrating new features and enhancements into Ubuntu to support public cloud users
- Writing high-quality code for new features and debugging issues
- Reviewing code produced by other engineers and participating in design discussions
- Engaging proactively with a distributed team and the open source community
Work Conditions:
- Remote work with the expectation of global travel (2 to 4 weeks per year) for internal and external events
- Full-time position
- We offer a distributed work environment with in-person team meetings occurring two to four times a year
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field
- Practical experience with public clouds
- Interest and experience with at least three of the following: containers (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps automation, open source projects, APIs, Linux systems administration, Python packaging, and cloud-based applications
- Experience in Python software development on Linux
