We are hiring a Software Engineer to focus on Linux, cloud infrastructure, pipelines, automation, and open source software. You will collaborate with leading cloud partners like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to enhance Ubuntu as a premier cloud platform. The role includes developing build systems using Python, Jenkins, and shell, implementing cloud features within Ubuntu Server, managing continuous delivery pipelines, and engaging directly with partners.
Responsibilities:
- Build automated, reliable image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines.
- Design and integrate new features into Ubuntu for public cloud users.
- Collaborate with a distributed team to produce high-quality code.
- Debug and enhance existing systems and troubleshoot issues.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Work from home with global travel required 2 to 4 weeks per year for events.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Practical experience with public clouds.
- Interest and experience in at least three of the following: containers (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps automation, open source projects, APIs, Linux systems administration, Python packaging, cloud-based applications.
- Experience in Python software development on Linux.
