This role involves automating OpenSearch operations, ensuring fault-tolerant replication, TLS, and installation, while providing domain-specific expertise to other teams within Canonical. Your primary focus will be on creating and automating features of data platforms rather than data analysis.
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Remote)
Work Conditions:
- Fully remote position with global travel for 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate proactively with an internationally distributed team.
- Write high-quality, idiomatic Python code to develop new features.
- Debug issues and engage with upstream communities.
- Work alongside skilled engineers in diverse fields.
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
- Experience in distributed systems development.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
Additional Skills That You Might Also Bring:
- Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and OpenSearch.
- Linux systems administration, package management, and operations experience.
- Familiarity with public cloud or private cloud solutions like OpenStack.
- Experience operating Kubernetes clusters for persistent data services.
