Engineers at the company are expected to be mindful of open-source community dynamics while being aware of the needs of large organizations. This role is focused on automating OpenSearch operations, ensuring fault-tolerant replication, TLS, installations, and providing domain-specific expertise related to the data system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate proactively with an internationally distributed team.
- Write high-quality, idiomatic Python code to create new features.
- Debug issues and engage with upstream communities publicly.
- Work with a talented team of engineers across diverse fields.
- Work from home, with occasional global travel for 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
- Proven hands-on experience in distributed systems development.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Experience with search and analytics engines (e.g., Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, OpenSearch).
- Experience with Linux systems administration and operations.
- Knowledge of public or private cloud solutions (e.g., OpenStack).
- Experience operating Kubernetes clusters.
