The data platform team develops a complete range of data stores and technologies, including big data, NoSQL, cache-layer capabilities, and analytics, as well as structured SQL engines. Responsibilities:

  • Automate data platform operations, ensuring fault-tolerant replication, TLS, installation, and more.
  • Provide domain-specific expertise on the actual data system to other teams within the company.
  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
  • Write high-quality, idiomatic Python code to create new features.
  • Debug issues and interact with upstream communities publicly.
  • Collaborate with talented engineers and discuss ideas to find effective solutions.
  • Work from home with global travel for 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Requirements:

  • Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
  • Proven hands-on experience in distributed systems.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with data platform technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, OpenSearch, Kafka, Yugabyte, Trino, Superset, Atlas, Ranger, and Redis.
  • Experience with Linux systems administration and operations.
  • Familiarity with public or private cloud solutions like OpenStack.
  • Experience with operating Kubernetes clusters, and a belief in its potential for persistent data services.
