Responsibilities:
- Automate data platform operations, ensuring fault-tolerant replication, TLS, installation, and more.
- Provide domain-specific expertise on the actual data system to other teams within the company.
- Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
- Write high-quality, idiomatic Python code to create new features.
- Debug issues and interact with upstream communities publicly.
- Collaborate with talented engineers and discuss ideas to find effective solutions.
- Work from home with global travel for 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience in software development using Python.
- Proven hands-on experience in distributed systems.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with data platform technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, OpenSearch, Kafka, Yugabyte, Trino, Superset, Atlas, Ranger, and Redis.
- Experience with Linux systems administration and operations.
- Familiarity with public or private cloud solutions like OpenStack.
- Experience with operating Kubernetes clusters, and a belief in its potential for persistent data services.
