About the Role:
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team as an independent contractor, working remotely from Europe. This role requires aligning with our team in Washington, DC, and involves working US Eastern Time (GMT-4/GMT-5) hours, typically from approximately 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM CET / 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM BST. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for enhancing our platform, which is utilized by some of the world's biggest companies, central banks, and non-governmental organizations to build revenue and volume through data and analytics. What Success Looks Like in This Role:
- Designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and enhancing Golang microservices and frontend applications.
- Delivering beautiful, performant interfaces guided by our design system.
- Improving the performance and observability of our services and applications.
- Enhancing the quality of life for your team and the business through automation, process improvement, or new technologies.
About the Team:
- You will be part of a technical team of approximately 30 technologists focused on continuously and reliably collecting substantial amounts of financial data that describe cross-border payments. The team processes this data, verifies its quality, and serves it to users for informed business decisions.
- A typical team includes around three engineers and a Product Manager.
- The role involves interacting with various stakeholders across the business in addition to your immediate team.
You Should Apply If You Can Confidently:
- Write Golang services and web app backends, deploying them in Docker containers.
- Build beautiful, componentized application frontends in React/TypeScript.
- Write performant SQL.
- Understand clean code principles and language idioms of TypeScript and Go, review code using these principles, and establish team quality standards.
- Learn and engage with a new business domain and product.
- Communicate complex topics to peers.
- Discuss how you learn and improve your skills.
These Skills Will Help, But Aren’t Essential:
- Experience with applications that involve concurrent logic (e.g., goroutines).
- Building CI/CD pipelines, especially using GitLab CI.
- Configuring and using observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
- Utilization of AI to enhance productivity and the efficiency of work and productionized AI tools.
- Familiarity with MaterialUI.
- Experience using Airflow, Python, or Terraform.
Tech Stack:
- Golang, TypeScript, React, MaterialUI, MariaDB, Clickhouse, GitLab, AWS, SQL.
