As a Software Engineer on the Core Desktop team, you will join a dedicated group of professionals focused on building the next generation of the immutable Ubuntu desktop. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop elements of the Core Desktop.
- Work with advanced Linux container technologies, including kernel namespaces, cgroups, apparmor, seccomp, and more.
- Write high-quality, defensive, and performant code for millions of users.
- Collaborate with team members to understand the intricacies of immutable desktops.
- Participate in code reviews to understand quality standards and architecture.
- Engage with the Ubuntu community for user feedback and insights.
- Contribute to documentation for personal and team development.
- Attend regular team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
- Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported issues to enhance debugging and problem-solving skills.
What We Are Looking For:
- Outstanding academic results.
- An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative path.
- Understanding of software development methodologies and life cycles.
- Passion for technology and a desire to work with intelligent, motivated colleagues.
- Willingness to learn and adapt, with interest in immutable desktop environments.
- Skills in Linux containerization technologies, Linux desktop environments, C/C++, Go, Python, and Shell scripting.
- Good communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Ability to travel twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.
Additional Skills That You Might Bring:
- Familiarity with Rust, Go, Dart, and Flutter is a plus.
