We are hiring a Software Engineer - L3 Support who will work within a dynamic engineering environment dealing with various layers of the technology stack including bare metal, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), storage, and networking technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for a technologist with a passion for Linux and open source software, who aims to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu and associated software.
- Maintain close collaboration with Canonical's Field, Support, and product engineering teams.
- Participate in upstream communities, developing bug fixes and backport patches.
- Review code produced by other engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Demonstrate good judgment in technical methods and techniques, managing priorities and time effectively.
- Engage in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation.
- Maintain clear and concise technical communication.
Requirements:
- An exceptional academic background in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Experience with Linux and open source software.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, C, or C++) on Linux.
- Willingness to learn unfamiliar technology and address difficult issues.
- Ability to travel for internal events up to 4 times per year.
