We are hiring a Software Engineer - L3 Support to work in a dynamic engineering role focused on Linux-based infrastructure and applications. This role involves addressing issues across various layers of the stack, including bare metal, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), storage (Ceph and Linux filesystems), networking (OVS, OVN and Core networking), OpenStack, Kubernetes, and the related open-source applications.
You will be responsible for resolving complex customer problems, maintaining close working relationships with Canonical's engineering teams, participating in upstream communities, and developing and reviewing bug fixes and patches. This role will require you to demonstrate strong technical judgment while prioritizing work and maintaining clear communications.
Work Conditions: Remote, Full-time, with up to 10% travel for team meetings, events, and conferences.
What We Are Looking For:
- Exceptional academic track record, preferably in Computer Science, STEM, or similar fields.
- Experience with Linux and open-source software.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
- A passion for troubleshooting and technical challenges.
- Willingness to travel up to four times a year.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Interest in learning about various technologies including Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, and distributed systems.
- Strong soft skills and a self-motivated, enterprising attitude.
