The Canonical Public Cloud team seeks enthusiastic engineers to join as Ubuntu distribution engineers. This role involves close collaboration with the Ubuntu Engineering organization to optimize technologies such as cloud-specific agents, web servers, databases, and virtualization and containerization stacks for public clouds. The team partners with major players like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, IBM, and Oracle to enhance their infrastructure.

As a member of the CPC team, you will be involved in developing the best version of Ubuntu for the cloud, supporting Ubuntu Server, and maintaining extensive continuous deployment operations to deliver images to end users. This role allows you to work with an experienced team while learning and growing alongside leading engineers in the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate proactively within a distributed team.
  • Foster a seamless user experience for all Ubuntu users.
  • Evaluate contributions from other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards.
  • Work with internal teams and communities on open source code and team-maintained code.
  • Debug issues and maintain packaged software, including cloud agents and traditional server workloads.

Work Conditions:

  • Remote work with global travel required for 2 to 4 weeks annually for internal and external events.

  • Fundamental understanding of package management and dependency resolution.
  • Interest in containerization and virtualization technologies.
