We are seeking enthusiastic engineers to join our Public Cloud team as Ubuntu distribution engineers. In this role, you will collaborate with the Ubuntu Engineering organization to ensure that cloud-specific technologies are optimized for public clouds. The team builds Ubuntu Server for cloud environments and maintains extensive continuous deployment operations to deliver images to end users.
Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions:

- Remote work with global travel (2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events)
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate proactively within a distributed team
- Foster a software ecosystem that ensures a seamless user experience for all Ubuntu users
- Evaluate contributions of other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards
- Collaborate with teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, as well as with upstream projects and commercially supported customers
- Debug issues on both open-source code and team-maintained code
- Work with the Ubuntu Engineering Server team to maintain and package software such as cloud agents and traditional server workloads
What We Are Looking For:
- Strong interest in technology and collaboration
- Skills in Python and a fundamental understanding of package management and dependency resolution
- Interest or experience in public cloud operations or architecture
- Comfortable with containerization and virtualization technologies
- Familiarity with testing steps and setting up testing systems in containers or virtual machines
