Software Engineer - Python and K8s

The company is a leading provider of open-source software and operating systems, primarily known for its platform, Ubuntu. Our mission is to reinvent how companies manage their open source information systems, both on public clouds and in their own data centers. In line with this mission, we are building a new community around Python opscode for open-source applications running on Kubernetes.

We are looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys Python programming and is passionate about distributed systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and will work on both rigorous code and customer interactions. The role involves:

• Designing and delivering open-source software operations code in Python.
• Engaging with the entire Linux stack, from kernel and networking to storage and applications.
• Building high-quality open-source monitoring and alerting infrastructure.
• Simplifying open-source operations for our customers and the open-source community.
• Following agile software development practices and coaching colleagues.

Requirements:

• Strong Python development skills and familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Experience with Linux systems administration and package management.
• Hands-on experience with at least one public cloud platform.
• Familiarity with Docker.
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
• A commitment to delivering reliable software and understanding the significance of high-quality coding practices.

Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote with global travel once or twice a year for up to 2 weeks for events.
