Canonical promotes global distributed collaboration, with over 1200 colleagues in 75+ countries. The company is founder-led, profitable, and growing, aiming to reinvent the way companies manage their open source information systems on public clouds and their own data centers. We are building a community around Python opscode for open source applications running on Kubernetes, aiming to productize these workloads for real-time automated operations.
This role is ideal for software engineers who have strong Python development skills and familiarity with Kubernetes, who enjoy working on distributed systems, and have an interest in the entire Linux stack, from the kernel to networking to virtualization and containers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver open source software operations code using Python
- Work across the Linux stack, from kernel and networking to applications
- Collaborate on sound software architecture and ensure quality standards
- Shape monitoring and alerting infrastructure for open source
- Follow agile software development practices and coach colleagues
- Contribute to a healthy, collaborative engineering culture
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field
- Experience with Linux systems administration and operations
- Hands-on experience with at least one public cloud
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Proven experience in Python programming
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to high-quality software delivery
Language Requirements:
- Proficiency in English is expected (additional language skills may be a plus)
