About the Job: Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems, famously known for its Ubuntu platform, which is widely utilized in enterprise solutions such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Canonical focuses on global collaboration with a distributed team of over 1200 colleagues spread across more than 75 countries. In this role, you will contribute to the development of Ubuntu-based container images designed to facilitate open-source application deployment worldwide. Your responsibilities will include building and maintaining a portfolio of container images, engaging in the Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) process, and ensuring the images maintain the highest quality for a seamless user experience. You will have the opportunity to work with various container technologies and open-source projects while mentoring junior team members. Work Conditions: - Employment Type: Full-time - Remote Work: Yes, with global travel up to 15% for internal and external events - Team Collaboration: Agile and globally distributed environment, with team meetings in interesting locations around the world two to four times a year. Requirements: - Strong background in software development - Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) - Familiarity with GitOps principles - Proficiency in building container images using management/orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) - Solid Python programming skills - Familiarity with Linux systems administration and package management - Excellent written and verbal communication skills Education: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field Language Requirements: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
