As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and aiding in their professional growth. You will facilitate an effective and collaborative work environment, ensuring high-quality software delivery while positively influencing team culture. Your role also involves technical leadership, strategy execution, and participating in code and architectural reviews.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a team of remote engineers through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development.
- Set expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
- Promote modern software development practices.
- Engage with Canonical teams, the open-source community, and partners.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Proven track record in talent development.
- Focus on timely and high-quality software delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Programming experience in C and/or Go.
Work Conditions:
- This is a full-time remote position available in EMEA and the Americas.
- Global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.
- Distributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in person.
