We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on developing a next-generation private cloud infrastructure that combines KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies. Candidates should have experience with high-quality microservice architectures, team leadership, and a deep familiarity with Linux kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking.

As an engineering manager at Canonical, you will have a technical background but will primarily focus on running an effective team and developing your colleagues. This includes fostering their growth as engineers, overseeing high-quality work, and maintaining a positive team culture.

Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote position available in EMEA and the Americas

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of remote engineers.
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development.
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for and advance modern software development practices.
  • Engage with internal teams, the open-source community, and partners.
  • Participate in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
  • Conduct global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes (K8s).
  • Proven ability and passion for developing and growing talent.
  • Track record of delivering timely, high-quality software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Experience programming in C and/or Go.
