Our mission centers on building a next-generation private cloud infrastructure, integrating KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies to create reliable, mission-critical cloud solutions for enterprise deployments. We are seeking engineering managers experienced in microservice architectures and high-performance team leadership, with a solid understanding of the Linux kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking.

As an engineering manager at Canonical, you will run an effective team, supporting their growth and ensuring high-quality work. Your role will include leading engineers, facilitating technical delivery, and contributing to collaborative culture within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of remote engineers.
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, and hands-on career development.
  • Manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Advocate for modern software development practices.
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews.
  • Collaborate with teams at Canonical, open source communities, and partners.
  • Work from home with an expectation of global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers and Kubernetes.
  • A passion for developing and nurturing talent, with a proven track record.
  • A focus on delivering timely and high-quality software.
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Experience in programming with C and/or Go.
