We are on a mission to build a next-generation private cloud infrastructure, leveraging KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies to deliver a robust and mission-critical cloud for edge and core enterprise deployments. We seek engineering managers with a background in high-quality microservice architectures and team leadership, as well as deep familiarity with Linux kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking.
As an engineering manager, you will possess a solid technical background but your primary responsibility will be to effectively manage and develop your team. You will help your team members grow as engineers, deliver high-quality work, and maintain professional satisfaction. Technical leadership experience and a background in software engineering are essential prerequisites for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of remote engineers.
- Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
- Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
- Advocate for and advance modern software development practices.
- Engage in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
- Collaborate with Canonical teams, the open source community, and partners.
- Work from home with global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events.
What We Are Looking For:
- Understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Proven ability in developing and growing people.
- Strong focus on delivering timely, high-quality software.
- A Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degree.
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
- Experience programming in C and/or Go.
Work Conditions:
- This is a fully remote position available in EMEA and the Americas.
- Global travel required for 4 to 6 weeks per year.
