We are looking for engineering managers experienced in high-quality microservice architectures and high-performance team leadership, along with strong expertise in Linux kernel, virtualisation, storage, and networking. In this role, you will lead a team of remote engineers, develop talent through coaching and mentorship, and set expectations with other engineering teams and senior management. A solid technical background combined with effective team management skills is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of remote engineers
- Develop talent through coaching and career development
- Manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and stakeholders
- Advocate for modern software development practices
- Participate in code and architectural reviews
- Engage with Canonical teams, the open-source community, and partners
- Work from home with global travel for internal and external events (4 to 6 weeks per year)
Requirements:
- Understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies, including networking, storage, containers, and Kubernetes (K8s)
- Proven experience in developing and growing people
- Focused on delivering timely, high-quality software
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
- Experience programming in C and/or Go
