We are dedicated to building next-generation private cloud infrastructure that combines KVM, Ceph, and SDN technologies to create a reliable data center scale cloud for edge and core enterprise deployments. We are seeking engineering managers with a strong background in microservice architectures and high-performance team leadership, alongside a deep familiarity with Linux kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking.

As an engineering manager, you will not only have a solid technical background, but also be responsible for running an effective team and nurturing the colleagues you manage. The role entails leading and developing engineers, influencing the culture, facilitating technical delivery, and collaborating with your team on strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of remote engineers
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
  • Manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Advocate for modern software development practices
  • Participate in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews
  • Engage with teams at Canonical, the open-source community, and partners
  • Work from home with global travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for internal and external events

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of modern Linux cloud computing technologies (networking, storage, containers, K8s)
  • Proven ability to develop and grow teams
  • Focused on timely, high-quality software delivery
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Experience programming in C and/or Go

Work Conditions:

  • This is a remote position available in EMEA and the Americas.
  • Expected to travel for 4 to 6 weeks per year for events.

Language Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
