As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a vital team that continuously improves open-source software by resolving defects reported by customers. This position involves managing one of our regional teams and collaborating with experts across time zones. You will ensure a good work-life balance for your team and facilitate their professional growth, while also driving technical delivery and strategy.
Work Conditions:
- This is a globally remote role.
- Occasional global travel up to 10% for internal and external events.
- Full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a distributed team of engineers.
- Hire, coach, mentor, and provide feedback and career development guidance.
- Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and training.
- Deliver timely bug fixes, patches, and technical solutions across various technologies, including Ubuntu, OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, Juju, and MAAS.
- Advocate for modern software development practices and grow a collaborative engineering culture.
Qualifications:
- Professional software delivery experience using C, C++, Go, Python, or similar languages.
- Knowledge and passion for software development.
- Leadership experience with a focus on complex problem resolution.
- Familiarity with version control systems like git and debugging tools such as gdb.
- Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Experience with Linux, particularly Ubuntu, and knowledge of Open Source Business Models.
- People management experience in a support organization is a plus.
