Position

Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in groundbreaking enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager for Sustaining Engineering to join our team. In this role, you will lead a distributed team that improves various open source software by resolving software defects reported by customers. You will be responsible for managing and mentoring engineers while ensuring a collaborative and healthy engineering culture in line with our company values. Responsibilities include managing and leading a distributed team of engineers, hiring, coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback and career development guidance, supporting timely delivery of bug fixes and technical solutions, advocating modern software development practices, and collaborating with other teams within the organization. This position is remote, with global travel up to 10% for internal and external events.

We are looking for professional software delivery experience using languages like C, C++, Go, Python, or similar, along with leadership experience in managing complex problem resolution. Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, debugging tools, testing methodologies, and maintainable code quality is essential. Experience with Linux, especially Ubuntu, and knowledge of open source business models is preferred.
