The ideal candidate will either have experience managing high-performing software development teams or be a proficient technical lead ready to take on managerial responsibilities. A passion for Linux and contributing to its distribution to millions of users is essential.
Location: Jiddah, Makkah, Saudi Arabia (Remote)
Work Conditions: Full-time, Remote working environment, with travel globally 2-3 times a year for up to two weeks.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a distributed team of engineers.
- Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
- Support on-time delivery of core and specialized Ubuntu kernels.
- Oversee custom kernel engineering for commercial projects.
- Maintain high standards of quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with other teams within Canonical, the open-source community, and commercial partners.
What We Are Looking For:
- Significant experience in programming with C, along with Python, Golang, or similar languages.
- Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals and development principles.
- Demonstrated experience managing or leading a software engineering team.
- Prior contribution to an open-source project.
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies.
- Proficiency in English (both written and oral).
