We are seeking passionate engineering managers who have a strong background in operational systems and open source technologies to lead teams focused on enabling and enhancing Ubuntu for the latest silicon platforms. You will oversee engineering practices, documentation, quality standards, and performance optimizations to deliver high-quality design and code. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for line management and career guidance, fostering engineering talent, and ensuring successful collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers across various experience levels.
  • Manage commercial engagements and support project milestone deliveries.
  • Act as technical lead on complex customer engagements.
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes and maintain platform-oriented software stacks.
  • Optimize Ubuntu for the latest hardware and contribute to technical documentation and code reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic performance in high school and university with a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with Linux and operational systems software.
  • Experience leading software engineering teams.
  • Proficient written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with open source communities and licenses.
  • Knowledge of computer architectures (x86, ARM, etc.) and build systems.
  • Experience with Docker, K8s, and high-performance computing.
