Software Solution Architect (AI & Startup Technology)

ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Software Solution Architect - AI & Startup Technology to play a key technical role within their Group Startup Program, an initiative focused on identifying, evaluating, investing in, and enabling high-potential technology startups.
This is not a traditional Solution Architect or presales position. The role sits at the intersection of software architecture, artificial intelligence, startup technology evaluation, software productization, technical due diligence, and strategic technology integration.
The Solution Architect will work closely with startup founders, CEOs, CTOs, engineering teams, Group leadership, and ecosystem partners to understand and evaluate the technologies being developed by startups participating in the program.
The successful candidate will assess the technical strength, maturity, scalability, productization potential, and future possibilities of startup technologies and determine where our client's technology and capabilities can create additional value.
Following the qualification and onboarding of selected startups, the Solution Architect will help define and architect the integration of relevant technologies from our client into their products and platforms. Where startups lack mature technical leadership, the Solution Architect may also provide architectural guidance and strategic technical direction.
The position requires someone who can move comfortably between deep technical discussions with engineers and strategic conversations with founders and executives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Startup Technology Evaluation & Technical Due Diligence

• Conduct in-depth technical assessments of startups being considered by our client's Startup Program.
• Understand each startup's product, underlying technology, architecture, engineering approach, AI capabilities, and technical roadmap.
• Evaluate whether the technology has been sufficiently validated and distinguish between concepts, prototypes, MVPs, and production-ready products.
• Assess the maturity, scalability, maintainability, extensibility, reliability, and enterprise readiness of startup technology.
• Evaluate software architecture, infrastructure, APIs, integrations, data architecture, AI/ML components, security considerations, and deployment models.
• Identify architectural limitations, technical debt, scalability challenges, dependencies, and other material technology risks.
• Assess the technical feasibility of the startup's product roadmap and future technology ambitions.
• Translate technical findings into clear recommendations and insights for our client's leadership and other stakeholders involved in startup qualification.

AI, NLP & Intelligent Systems

• Assess AI-driven products and platforms with strong technical depth across Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, NLP, Generative AI, and modern AI architectures.
• Evaluate how AI is currently implemented within startup products and determine the maturity and scalability of those capabilities.
• Review architectures involving LLMs, RAG, AI agents, model integrations, embeddings, vector search, knowledge systems, APIs, data pipelines, and related AI technologies where applicable.
• Evaluate the appropriateness of AI models, frameworks, platforms, and integration approaches for specific product requirements.
• Identify opportunities where AI can meaningfully enhance a startup's existing product rather than being introduced without clear product or business value.
• Provide architectural guidance for integrating AI capabilities into scalable software products.

Software Productization

• Evaluate the startup's ability to evolve technology from a prototype or MVP into a scalable commercial software product.
• Assess product architecture against requirements for enterprise deployment, multi-tenancy, scalability, security, observability, maintainability, availability, and integration.
• Identify technical and architectural gaps preventing a startup from achieving production or enterprise readiness.
• Guide startups on architectural improvements required to support growth and commercialization.
• Help startups establish appropriate technical foundations for scaling their products, teams, and customer deployments.
• Balance engineering quality, scalability, speed of execution, and commercial requirements when recommending architectural decisions.

Our Client's Technology Integration

• Develop a strong understanding of our client's technology portfolio, platforms, APIs, products, and technical capabilities.
• Determine where our client's technologies can create measurable technical or product value for participating startups.
• Identify appropriate integration opportunities based on the startup's architecture, product strategy, and technology roadmap.
• Design high-level and detailed solution architectures for integrations between our client's technologies and startup platforms.
• Work with our client's engineering teams and startup technical teams to define integration requirements, architecture, interfaces, dependencies, and implementation approaches.
• Support the technical journey from initial integration concept through implementation and production deployment.
• Evaluate how startups could evolve their products and capabilities through the adoption of our client's technologies.

Technical Leadership & Startup Advisory

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to selected startups participating in the program.
• Provide architectural and technical leadership where startups have capable engineering teams but lack senior architecture or technology leadership.
• Work directly with startup CTOs, technical founders, architects, and engineering teams to address complex technology decisions.
• Challenge architectural assumptions constructively and help teams evaluate alternative technical approaches.
• Support startups in developing scalable technical strategies and architecture roadmaps.
• Provide guidance without unnecessarily replacing or disrupting existing startup technical leadership.

Required Experience

• Significant professional experience in Software Engineering, Solution Architecture, Software Architecture, Product Architecture, or Enterprise Solution Architecture.
• Strong hands-on technical foundation with the ability to understand complex software systems beyond high-level architecture diagrams.
• Proven experience designing and architecting enterprise-grade software products and platforms.
• Strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, NLP, and modern AI architectures.
• Practical experience integrating AI capabilities into production software products.
• Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, distributed systems, cloud architecture, data platforms, integration patterns, and modern software engineering practices.
• Demonstrated experience taking software products or platforms from concept/MVP through productization and production deployment.
• Experience assessing scalability, availability, security, performance, maintainability, and technical debt within software platforms.
• Ability to evaluate unfamiliar technology stacks and rapidly understand how complex products have been architected.
• Experience working directly with customers, founders, executives, product leaders, or other senior stakeholders.
• Strong ability to translate business and product requirements into scalable technical architectures.
