Solution Architect – MES

About the Role
The Solution Architect – MES is responsible for architecting L3 MES system and solutions application related to business solutions. This role supports the L3/L2 integrated design and implementation of suitable system architecture for the production of Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, and other domains, including 3rd party systems and custom development when required. The individual will own business outcomes and implementation strategy towards L3/MES solution implementation while supporting the Digital Enterprise Business Unit/Solution Division in developing differentiation in a high-growth competitive environment.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Perform high-level technical analysis activities, such as requirements gathering and gap analysis of plant operation requirements.
• Responsible for a variety of system integration challenges related to MES or Batch solution implementation on system platforms, portfolio management, design, and demo functions.
• Conduct studies and provide implementation support for the successful proliferation of the right MES architecture in the assigned industry/application.
• Ensure client expectations are understood and being met.
• Maintain oversight of timing and quality of assigned deliverables completion.
• Utilize best practice approaches (i.e., ISA99) and methods as appropriate.
• Engage with customers in assigned technical areas to develop solutions that help resolve their process problems and grow their business, leveraging the latest Digital Solution tools if possible.
• Support SM/DX MES training efforts by providing input, documenting requirements, and supporting the architecture design and delivery of training programs.
• Define and measure success metrics.
• Prepare reports for clients.
• Define MES solution architectures and develop detailed MES Solution design specifications.
• Conduct functional requirements gathering through client interviews, documentation analysis, and Workflow Process Mapping.
• Provide expert knowledge and experience to estimate the technical effort required to implement complex solutions.
• Take responsibility for technical deliverables during the entire lifecycle of solution development projects.
• Actively participate on a technical project team, ensuring effective relationships are built and maintained.
• Proactively engage with customers to define overall improvements towards Operational Excellence.
• Assist existing customers in problem resolution and help define future opportunities.
• Provide Sure Service support to clients under contract.
• Foster positive interactions with sales personnel to secure orders.

Qualification and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or a minimum of 6 years of industry experience in an engineering discipline and sales.
• At least 4 years of experience in integrating or handling actual MES or Batch applications. Knowledge of AI for MES will be advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on solution development for operational usage.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the YMA region.

Competencies:

• Good communication skills and a team player; ability to energize.
• Knowledge of Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, or specialized chemical domains is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of MES business in Materials and Life Industries is preferred.
• Expected to provide strong advice towards Digital Transformation journey implementation from MES implementation.
• Familiarity with the latest market trends.

Skills:

• Software skills in software analysis, design, methodology, and architecture.
• Strong exposure to MES technologies, including batch, planning & scheduling, billing, historian applications (OSI PI a plus), visualization, quality and efficiency in manufacturing, SCADA, automated decision control, workflow, and database applications.
• Anticipates the needs for change and supports and promotes company-wide programs, strategies, and initiatives.
• Develops and identifies industry/application-wide Digital technologies suitable for business use.
• Creates an environment conducive to successful interaction and customer satisfaction.
• Early engagement with customers to explore long-term partnership agreements.
