Position

The Specialist, Data Steward will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of organizational data across systems and processes. This role maintains data quality standards, enforces governance policies, and monitors compliance with data management practices. The Data Steward collaborates with business units, IT security, and data owners to resolve issues, define rules, and ensure proper usage of critical data assets. The objective of this role is to ensure data is correctly classified, thereby reducing risks from poor data management and enabling data-driven decision-making. Ultimately, the Data Steward ensures that data is treated as a trusted, strategic asset.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, measure, and improve the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of organizational data
  • Ensure data assets across the company are correctly classified, documented, and easily accessible to various stakeholders
  • Maintain clear metadata, business definitions, and data lineage to ensure transparency and traceability
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve data-related issues in collaboration with data owners and technical teams
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, privacy, and security requirements in handling sensitive or confidential data
  • Partner with business units, IT Security, Cybersecurity, and other stakeholders to align data practices with organizational goals
  • Promote data stewardship practices through education, guidance, and support for data users
  • Drive initiatives to improve data processes, tools, and governance frameworks for long-term effectiveness

Requirements

  • Graduate or Post-graduate with a Computer Science background (or related field), preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of data experience with 2 years in a similar role
  • Proven knowledge of data governance frameworks, data lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance (e.g., NDMO, PDPL, DAMA, GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA)
  • Proficiency with data governance tools (e.g., Informatica Cloud, Collibra, Informatica, Alation)
  • Familiarity with data privacy tools (e.g., BigID, OneTrust, Securiti.ai)
  • Knowledge of metadata management, data lineage, and master data management (MDM) concepts
  • Familiarity with information security and privacy principles in handling sensitive or confidential data
