Core Accountabilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers and operating systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed.
- Manage and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, backups, and recovery processes are in place.
- Develop and execute backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to protect organizational data.
- Regularly apply updates and patches to operating systems and applications to maintain security and performance.
- Manage changes to the IT environment in a structured manner to minimize disruption and ensure system integrity.
- Quickly respond to and resolve system incidents and outages, minimizing impact on business operations.
- Monitor system performance, implement optimizations, and ensure high availability of services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures for future reference.
- Work closely with IT support staff and other departments to resolve issues and support organizational needs.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of IT policies and best practices within the organization.
- Provide training and guidance to users on system functionalities and best practices.
- Liaise with vendors for system purchases, upgrades, and support services.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, recommending enhancements to improve system efficiency and effectiveness.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years in IT infrastructure administration with a focus on servers and system management for a mid-sized organization.
- 3 years in a system management role for a mid-sized organization.
Knowledge / Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related fields.
- Certification in a relevant subject is preferable (e.g., Microsoft Certified Windows Server, CCNA, VCP).
- Strong understanding of NIST 800-53 and CNSSI 1253.
- Strong understanding of data classification.
- Knowledge of IPSEC, SSL, PKI, and other encryption-based technologies.
- Ability to demonstrate least privilege access.
Key Skills:
- Proficient with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) for server deployment and management.
- Strong knowledge of server and network infrastructure including Windows and Linux.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange Infrastructure.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and configuration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Strong understanding of backup and recovery solutions.
- Strong understanding of data security zones.
- Knowledge of data encryptors and data diodes.
- Strong understanding of Identity Access Management (IAM) and Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC).
