Position

The company is seeking an SQL & Oracle DB Engineer responsible for the design, optimization, and advanced administration of Oracle and MS SQL database systems. This expert-level role oversees lifecycle management, automation, and disaster recovery readiness of Oracle environments supporting critical services.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other database technologies.
  • Manage database backup and restore functions, including scheduled tests of disaster recovery availability.
  • Perform MS SQL production database level performance tuning.
  • Participate in SQL code reviews for application teams to enforce SQL coding standards.
  • Build and report on SQL environment performance and availability metrics while implementing best practices to optimize performance.
  • Assist in technical analysis and design for current and future projects.
  • Write SQL scripts to efficiently extract data in a timely manner.
  • Install database software on servers as necessary.
  • Monitor databases for performance and issues using monitoring tools.
  • Manage database servers according to Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Architect and maintain Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and backup/restore strategies.
  • Lead performance tuning, patch management, and complex incident resolution.
  • Manage Oracle database lifecycle including provisioning, migration, and upgrades.
  • Ensure high availability and replication readiness across data centers.
  • Implement automation for routine tasks using Ansible or PL/SQL scripting.
  • Ensure compliance with NCA and NDMO, secure data handling, and auditing.
  • Mentor Level 2 Oracle engineers and collaborate with solution architects.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 6+ years of relevant work experience in the industry, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role.
  • Advanced skills in Oracle 19c+, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, and OEM.
  • Expertise in SQL optimization and schema tuning.
  • Experience in hybrid cloud database setups.
  • Knowledge of Ansible or Terraform for automation.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard database management practices and methodologies.

Other Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification is preferred.
