Position

As a Senior Engineer for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and other database technologies, you will be responsible for a variety of critical tasks including:

  • Database backup and restore functions, with scheduled tests of disaster recovery (DR) availability.
  • Participation in CAB meetings, DORM Calls, escalation calls, and improvement sessions.
  • Performance tuning at both SQL instance and database levels for production environments.
  • SQL parameter/configuration file enhancements and deep tuning.
  • Conducting SQL code-reviews to enforce SQL coding standards.
  • Building and reporting on SQL environment performance and availability metrics.
  • Writing SQL scripts for efficient data extraction.
  • Monitoring databases for performance issues using various monitoring tools.
  • Ensuring database servers meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
  • Collaborating with vendors and external support to provide a stable environment.
  • Architecting and maintaining Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and backup/restore strategies.
  • Leading performance tuning, patch management, and complex incident resolution.
  • Managing the lifecycle of Oracle and SQL databases, including provisioning, migration, and upgrades.
  • Ensuring high availability and replication readiness across data centers.
  • Implementing automation for routine tasks using Powershell/T-SQL, PL/SQL scripting, Cron Jobs, and SQL Jobs.
  • Ensuring compliance with NCA and NDMO, secure data handling, and auditing.
  • Mentoring Level 2 Oracle/SQL engineers and interfacing with solution architects.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 6+ years of relevant work experience in the industry, with a minimum of 2+ years in a similar role.
  • Advanced skills in Oracle 19c+, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, SQL 2014, SQL 2017, SQL 2019, SSIS, SSRS.
  • Expertise in SQL optimization, schema tuning, capacity tuning, and database deep troubleshooting.
  • Experience with large database environments and hybrid cloud database setups.
  • Knowledgeable with automation and reporting, as well as automatic performance tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard database management practices.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
  • Professional certification in database administration.
  • Familiarity with Powershell, Windows & Unix administrations, and ITIL.
