As a Data Scientist on the analysis track at talabat, your mission will be to enhance the quality of decision-making across products and business units through accurate, relevant, and actionable data. You will take ownership of a specific domain and collaborate closely with product and business managers as part of a skilled team of data scientists and engineers. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire data value chain, which includes logging, data modeling, analysis, reporting, and experimentation.

- Transform ambiguous business challenges into opportunities using objective data criteria.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of product experiences and business processes related to your focus area.
- Become familiar with source data and its generating systems through documentation and interactions with engineering teams.
- Contribute significantly to the design and maintenance of data models that measure performance and identify performance drivers for your area.
- Collaborate with product and business teams to identify critical questions that can be addressed effectively with data.
- Deliver clear, actionable insights and recommendations to foster data-driven decision-making via in-depth analysis and automated reports.
- Design, plan, and analyze experiments (including A/B and multivariate tests).
- Support product and business managers in setting KPIs and goals.
- Mentor other data scientists in their professional development.
- Contribute to refining workflows, tools, and internal training programs.
What You Need to Be Successful
Technical Experience:
- Excellent SQL proficiency.
- Competence in reproducible data analysis using Python or R.
- Familiarity with data modeling and dimensional design.
- Strong understanding of the entire data analysis lifecycle: problem formulation, data auditing, analysis, interpretation, recommendations, and presentation.
- Knowledge of various types of analysis, including descriptive, exploratory, inferential, causal, and predictive.
- Deep understanding of experiment design and statistical techniques.
- Familiarity with product data (impressions, events) and product health metrics (conversion, engagement, retention).
- Experience with BigQuery and the Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
- Data engineering and pipeline development experience (e.g., via Airflow) is advantageous.
- Experience with classical machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM) is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, technology, or a related field (a postgraduate degree is a plus but not required).
- 5+ years of experience in data science and machine learning.
- Experience in an online consumer product setting is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills.
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- A “keep it simple” mentality to drive results.
