We are looking for a Sr. Engineering Manager to join our team at talabat, the leading online food and groceries ordering platform in MENA, operating in 9 countries across the region. You will play a key role in fostering an engineering culture focused on quality and speed, using methodologies such as eXtreme Programming (XP), Domain-Driven Design, Lean, and Continuous Delivery. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Understanding customer and business needs to drive outcomes and create effective strategies.
- Leading and empowering a talented group of engineers to self-organize, innovate, and implement end-to-end software solutions.
- Developing engineering talent through mentoring, coaching, and effective retention strategies.
- Guiding your team in delivering complex software solutions that meet various non-functional requirements including availability and scalability.
- Contributing to the wider tech organization by leading strategic initiatives within your domain.

Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably within an Extreme Programming environment.
- 4+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience.
- Experience in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, and RESTful Services).
- Proficient in testing with a focus on automated end-to-end quality.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to create compelling narratives.
- Empathetic with strong stakeholder and dependency management skills.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
