Sr. Maintenance Technician

About the Role
As a Senior Maintenance Technician, you will perform as a multi-craft specialist, ensuring optimal equipment uptime and factory efficiency. You will conduct advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and execute complex corrective and preventative repairs. Your mission is to deliver safe, capable, and sustainable Powertrain operations while enhancing local technical capabilities and launch readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Advanced Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose interacting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, sensor, motion, and PLC-controlled faults.
  • Utilize schematics, I/O status, alarms, trends, and measurements to isolate root conditions while maintaining safeguards.
  • Support controlled backup/restore and component replacement under automation governance.

• PM/PdM & Precision Work

  • Execute complex Preventive Maintenance (PM), alignments, calibrations, condition checks, and rebuilds to defined acceptance criteria.
  • Accurately document findings, measurements, parts used, and follow-up work in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Permanent Correction

  • Lead field evidence collection and apply 5-Why techniques; implement countermeasures and verify effectiveness in preventing recurrence.
  • Identify maintainability, spare, documentation, and training gaps; escalate improvement proposals.

• Technical Coaching

  • Train technicians and operators on troubleshooting, Advanced Maintenance Level 3 techniques, safe working practices, and defect recognition.

• Enterprise, Launch & Workforce Expectations

  • Safety: Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO), guarding, interlock, and high-voltage (HV) control protocols.
  • Quality: Ensure product conformity, maintain traceability and calibrated-tool discipline; address abnormalities and ensure preservation of objective evidence.
  • Delivery: Support stable flow, takt/cycle achievement, and rapid escalation of constraints.
  • Cost: Minimize scrap, rework, downtime, energy, and consumable losses through data-driven strategies.
  • People: Build local technical capability through coaching, cross-training, and knowledge transfer.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in tier meetings, 5S practices, Kaizen, Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC) initiatives, and closed-loop corrective action processes.

Success Measures

• Compliance with safety standards, closure of near-miss/action incidents, and zero unauthorized bypass incidents.
• Quality-at-source metrics, completeness of traceability, and reduction of repeat defects.
• Delivery/cycle or equipment-availability performance within the defined role.
• Timely resolution of launch, PM, RCA, punch-list, and improvement actions.
• Progress in skills-matrix/Individual Learning Unit (ILU) development, cross-training, and local capability transfer.
• Accuracy in data and documentation, audit readiness, and structured handovers.

Skills

• Proficient in advanced multi-craft troubleshooting.
• Knowledgeable in PLC/I/O and industrial network diagnostics.
• Skilled in precision measurement, schematics interpretation, and safe machine restoration.
• Experienced with CMMS discipline, RCA, and coaching methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical diploma in mechatronics, electrical, or mechanical discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of multi-craft industrial maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in PLC diagnostics on Siemens, Rockwell, or Beckhoff systems.
• High-voltage (HV) competency.
• Fluency in Arabic and a working knowledge of English.
• Experience with greenfield or brownfield industrial launch and ramp-up processes.
• Background in high-automation, automotive, electric vehicle (EV), battery, or precision assembly environments.
• Familiarity with TPM/Autonomous Maintenance and Lean problem-solving methods.
• Experience in developing local technical talent within multicultural workforces.
