Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques.
- Perform data-driven proactive problem solving, root cause analysis, and issue avoidance due to process deviations or critical part quality issues.
- Establish technical depth to troubleshoot Thermal System/HVAC components/sub-assemblies.
- Ensure design intent assembly requirements for Thermal System/HVAC assembly and enforce these on the line in close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Support new product launches and execute part concession deviations for E-Motor assembly in the manufacturing plant.
- Assist with high-volume production ramp activities pertaining to product engineering activities.
- Advise on build process development and possible improvements for high-volume production lines.
- Collaborate closely with supplier-facing teams for all off-the-shelf thermal system components for issue management and resolution.
- Lead product change management to address known product compatibility issues for high-volume production or known product design issues in production, working closely with cross-functional teams where appropriate.
Skills
- BS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering disciplines with 8+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle attributes; or a Master’s degree in mechanical or automotive disciplines with 6+ years of automotive experience.
- Experience in product problem solving using industry-standard techniques.
- Proficient in data analysis using statistics with Minitab or JMP, Python, MATLAB.
- Prior experience working in resident product engineering roles in the plant.
- Experience with Thermal Systems, Automotive HVAC, and associated troubleshooting.
- Technical depth in automotive thermal system, HVAC requirements, heat pumps, condensers, radiators, coolant control valves/modules, etc., with associated troubleshooting.
- Experience in product development or improvement of automotive thermal systems is required.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, DVP&R, DFM/DFA, and RCA with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills using Atlassian products.
- Proficiency in Catia or 3DX, stack-up analysis (2D & 3D), SQL, and JMP.
- Six Sigma Green/Black belt certification is preferred.
- Experience with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence.
- Engineering-in-Training (EIT) or certification in engineering fundamentals is desired.
- Collegiate FSAE/BAJA/Similar experience is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications

- Prior experience working in resident product engineering roles in the plant.
- Technical depth in automotive thermal systems, HVAC requirements, heat pumps, condensers, radiators, coolant control valves/modules, etc., with associated troubleshooting.
- Experience in product development or improvement of automotive thermal systems is required.
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required.
Compensation & Benefits

Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours of paid time off, while salaried/exempt employees accrue up to 160 hours.
