The SRE / DevOps Engineer is a key element within the company support infrastructure and is expected to provide a high level of technical support to our customers via phone, ticketing system, and automation. This role owns complex customer issues, which may take several days or weeks to resolve, ensuring customers are updated throughout the process. As a member of an SRE team, you will operate our OpenStack private cloud and develop tools and integrations for a portfolio of cloud infrastructure services. You will utilize your OpenStack knowledge to drive operational improvements and support releases through code. The use of common open-source observability tooling like ELK and Grafana will help you maintain Service Level Objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver software to improve the functionality, reliability, availability, and manageability of applications and cloud platforms using a DevOps model for On-Prem (OpenStack).
- Automate development, testing, and deployment processes via CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitLab, Helm, ArgoCD).
- Work with Tier 1 support on system and customer escalations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, application, and network issues.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to optimize application performance and reliability.
- Continuously evaluate and improve systems and processes for enhanced reliability, performance, and efficiency.
- Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in SRE and DevOps.
Job Requirements:
- Solid OpenStack cloud infrastructure background and operational problem-solving experience.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, packaging, deployment, upgrade, and support.
- OpenStack development and operations experience, particularly with major components like Keystone, Nova, Neutron, Glance.
- Software development experience in Python.
- Ability to write patches for OpenStack in Python and contribute to the community.
- Experience with software-defined storage, preferably Ceph.
- Knowledge of hypervisor technologies, including KVM.
- Proficiency in Redhat Enterprise Linux and/or CentOS.
- Experience in maintaining code distribution through automated pipelines.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet.
- Understanding of software-defined network technologies, including OVS, OVN, NFV, etc.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Helm, ArgoCD, Conjur/Vault.
