Role Overview:
The SRE Lead ideally comes from a strong Software Engineering background and possesses an automation mindset. This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the SRE team and overseeing the reliability, scalability, and performance of the infrastructure and services. Key responsibilities include managing the team’s day-to-day activities, defining strategies for improving system reliability, and ensuring the team adopts best practices in automation, incident response, and infrastructure management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management: Manage daily operations, provide mentorship, and conduct performance reviews.
- SRE Practices: Implement SRE strategies and ensure adherence to best practices in collaboration between development and operations.
- Strategic Planning and Roadmap Development: Develop a roadmap for observable, scalable, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
- System Reliability and Incident Management: Oversee system health, lead incident management efforts, and develop response protocols.
- Automation and Infrastructure Optimization: Drive automation practices, implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and optimize cloud infrastructure.
- Production Release Support: Oversee deployments of features and updates to production while monitoring for issues.
- Monitoring, Observability, and Performance Tuning: Maintain monitoring systems and ensure observability is integrated into application design.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the contact point for reliability matters and foster collaboration between teams.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Promote new technologies and refine processes for incident response and management.
- Security, Compliance, and Risk Management: Ensure security best practices are integrated into infrastructure management.
- Reporting and Metrics: Define, track, and report on metrics related to system performance and reliability.
- Collaboration in Hiring: Participate in the hiring process to build a capable SRE team.
