As a Staff Data Scientist on the algorithms track, your mission will include improving decision-making quality across product and business through the use of relevant, reliable, and actionable data. You will own a particular domain and work closely with product and business managers as part of a talented team of data scientists and engineers, managing the entire data value chain from logging and data modeling to analysis, reporting, and experimentation. Many initiatives will focus on leveraging Generative AI to enhance user experiences and business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize ambiguous business problems as opportunities to drive data-driven decision making.
- Solve complex business challenges using effective algorithms.
- Design and implement impactful machine learning and generative AI systems in production.
- Develop a deep understanding of your focus area's products and business processes.
- Maintain familiarity with the source data and its generating systems.
- Design and maintain data models that measure performance and comprehend performance drivers.
- Collaborate with product and business teams to address key questions through data analysis.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support data-driven decision-making.
- Design and analyze experiments, including A/B and multivariate tests.
- Support KPI design and goal setting for product and business managers.
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to internal training programs and process improvements.
Qualifications:

Technical Experience:
- Strong background in machine learning, generative AI, deep learning, and data mining.
- Proficient in ML and GenAI frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Excellent SQL skills and competence in data analysis with Python or R.
- Familiarity with data modeling and dimensional design.
- Deep understanding of the entire data lifecycle and various analysis methods.
- Experience with LLMs and NLP solutions is a plus.
- Familiarity with BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform is advantageous.
- Experience in data engineering and data pipeline development (e.g., using Airflow) is a plus.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, technology, or a related field; a postgraduate degree is an advantage but not required.

Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, and Gen AI, preferably in an online consumer product setting.
