Position

As a Staff Data Scientist I – Matching, you will own the end-to-end matching and dispatch architecture for the company's Food and Groceries verticals. Your role involves designing and implementing real-time assignment systems that focus on optimizing costs, SLA compliance, and marketplace efficiency at scale. You will address complex, multi-objective optimization problems and build systems that dynamically match orders to captains while continuously optimizing based on new information. This role requires you to lead architecture decisions, mentor other data scientists, and set optimization standards across the domain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Matching & Dispatch Architecture Ownership
    Design and manage end-to-end matching and dispatch systems for Food & Groceries, focusing on scalable assignment frameworks and robust optimization standards.

  • Multi-Objective Optimization & Algorithm Development
    Formulate multi-objective optimization models aimed at balancing cost minimization, SLA compliance, and marketplace efficiency. Develop custom solvers and incorporate stochastic elements into decision-making processes.

  • Real-Time Systems & Production Delivery
    Build production-grade real-time matching systems using Python, Spark, and Trino, ensuring reliable model serving and system performance while leading performance monitoring efforts.

  • Experimentation & Impact Measurement
    Define evaluation metrics and run controlled experiments to assess matching improvements. Analyze trade-offs and ensure decisions lead to measurable efficiency enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • 6–8+ years of experience in Applied Machine Learning, Optimization, or Data Science.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong expertise in optimization algorithms, graph modeling, and decision systems.
  • Hands-on experience with OR-Tools or custom optimization solvers.
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, Spark, and distributed data systems.
  • Experience with real-time decision systems and a strong understanding of experimentation.

Work Conditions:

  • Full-time position.
  • Flexible work schedule: 4 days in the office & 1 day from home; option to work remotely from any country for 30 days a year.
