The Security Operations (SecOps) team will focus on the design, implementation, and evolution of security practices, tools, systems, and policies at Canonical. This team holds the responsibility for securing internal infrastructure and build processes, while ensuring that Canonical’s data is protected from security threats. The team's mission extends beyond Canonical; they will contribute to the security of the broader open source ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and evolve Canonical's SecOps security standards and playbooks.
- Analyze and improve Canonical's security architecture.
- Evaluate, select, and implement new security tools and practices.
- Identify, contain, and guide the remediation of security threats and cyber attacks.
- Drive thought leadership and presence for Canonical SecOps.
- Contribute to open source threat intelligence initiatives.
- Develop learning and development materials for Canonical SecOps.
What We Are Looking For:
- Exceptional academic track record, preferably in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
- Deep personal motivation and drive to excel in technology security.
- Expertise in threat modeling and risk management frameworks.
- Knowledge of security architecture and leading security tools.
- Experience with security risk management frameworks such as NIST CSF and security standards like ISO 27001.
Optional Qualifications:
- Experience in a security operations team or security operations center (SOC).
- Hands-on experience in offensive or defensive security teams.
- Familiarity with state-actor and advanced persistent threats.
