About the Role:
As a Lead / Staff Full-Stack Engineer, you will set the technical direction across both the frontend and backend of a critical platform area. You will be responsible for multiple services and their corresponding UI surfaces, leading architecture decisions across the full stack, mentoring engineers across teams, and promoting engineering excellence. What You'll Do:
- Define the architecture for a critical platform area, including API/service design and the frontend architecture that consumes it.
- Lead major technical decisions regarding framework choices, data models, deployment patterns, and design system direction.
- Mentor senior engineers in both frontend and backend disciplines, raising the engineering bar across teams.
- Drive cross-team initiatives focusing on the improvement of reliability, security, developer velocity, and UI quality.
- Partner with product and design teams to develop multi-quarter technical and UX strategies.
- Operate as a tech lead for significant full-stack projects, without people management responsibility.
- Ensure that platform and UI decisions are compatible with both SaaS and on-prem operating models.
What You'll Bring:
- 10+ years of experience in full-stack engineering, with a history of architectural ownership across both frontend and backend.
- Strong system design capabilities at the architecture level in your primary discipline (either backend: distributed systems, API architecture or frontend: component and rendering architecture at scale), with credible fluency in the other discipline.
- Deep proficiency in Python and React.
- A proven mentorship record in your primary discipline, with the credibility to review and guide work in the other discipline.
- A track record of leading significant technical initiatives end-to-end.
- Extensive experience with platforms that operate in both managed SaaS and on-premises/disconnected environments.
- Experience in on-prem and air-gap delivery at the architecture level.
- Knowledge in leading design systems alongside backend architecture ownership.
- Experience leading technical initiatives that affect multiple teams across various disciplines.
- Background in scaling engineering organizations that integrate frontend and backend disciplines.
