About the Job: Careem is building the Everything App for the greater Middle East, designed to simplify and improve the lives of people by offering services like ride-hailing, food and grocery ordering, and payment management. Since its inception in 2012, Careem has empowered over 2.5 million Captains and served more than 70 million customers across over 70 cities in 10 countries.

We are looking for a senior tech leader with substantial experience in engineering to help shape the future of engineering in the region. Your role would involve leading internal engineering initiatives, designing scalable systems, driving data and AI impact, influencing product strategies, promoting technical excellence, mentoring engineers, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build scalable, secure systems that enhance engineering productivity and reliability.
• Define system architecture for complex backend systems focused on performance and extensibility, leveraging expertise in Java, Golang, and modern platforms.
• Drive impact through the application of machine learning and AI innovation to enhance customer experiences.
• Shape product roadmaps and make technical decisions with a focus on customer outcomes.
• Uphold high standards of code quality and foster a strong engineering culture within the organization.
• Mentor engineers and facilitate continuous learning and technical leadership development.
• Streamline workflows through automation in CI/CD and configuration management.
• Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, product, and security teams to create robust solutions.
