About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will operate across multiple levels, contributing significantly to your team, domain, and the wider tech organization. You will serve as the voice of your chapter, guiding teams in understanding the chapter direction while providing hands-on technical mentorship. Your role will involve driving critical, complex initiatives that impact multiple teams and working closely with Engineering, Product, and Data counterparts to enhance system processes, simplify complexities, and remove bottlenecks. You will be instrumental in driving the RFC review process to foster insight into the overall app architecture and play a key role in shaping the evolution of your Chapter Vision & Strategy. Your efforts will also extend across the tech organization, focusing on improving the overall developer experience, questioning existing processes and driving improvements across the board.

Responsibilities
- Drive critical initiatives affecting multiple teams and establish partnerships within the Engineering, Product, and Data domains.
- Lead the improvement of systems and processes by simplifying complexities and removing bottlenecks.
- Oversee the RFC review process to enhance app architecture insights.
- Contribute significantly to your Chapter Vision & Strategy and support key chapter initiatives.
- Mentor and guide other engineers in their development efforts.
- Drive improvements in the overall developer experience, participating in branding initiatives and hiring processes.
Qualifications

- Strong understanding of lean/agile values, principles, and associated practices.
- Solid experience in building large-scale applications using modern programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, Go).
- Proven ability to mentor other engineers effectively.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years within an Extreme Programming environment (TDD, Pair Programming, Simple Design, and Continuous Refactoring).
- Expert knowledge in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, RESTful Services).
- Familiarity with the mobile landscape, architectures, and emerging technologies.
- Proficient in testing with a focus on automated end-to-end quality.
- Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Experience in building and maintaining systems using Trunk Based Development and Continuous Delivery.
