The Deel-as-a-Service team is building the infrastructure layer that powers global work. This includes APIs, embeddable UI components, and financial rails that allow partners to seamlessly integrate Deel's capabilities into their products.
The Staff Technical Program Manager will be pivotal in transforming Deel’s APIs into a strategic advantage by establishing standards and improving consistency. This includes governing the infrastructure that allows our internal and external APIs to evolve while maintaining quality.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Deel’s API program, establishing ownership and accountability.
- Create and enforce scalable API standards and governance practices.
- Design a comprehensive API evaluation system to track maturity and identify gaps.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align API priorities.
- Ensure APIs are consistent, performant, and provide a seamless experience for developers.
- Conduct customer research to identify integration pain points.
- Address API quality issues proactively.
- Define the evolution of Deel’s platform to support various use cases.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in technology roles, with 5+ years in high-growth scale-ups.
- Expertise in modern API design (REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI).
- Strong operational skills in API governance and lifecycle management.
- Technical fluency for collaboration with engineering and product teams.
- Data-driven decision-maker with a focus on integration experiences.
- Familiarity with API tools and infrastructure (e.g., Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI).
- General knowledge of software development processes (experience in payment systems is advantageous).
- Proficiency with BI tools (SQL, Looker, Snowflake) and strong presentation skills.
- Bonus: Experience at companies known for strong developer ecosystems (e.g., Stripe, Twilio).
