About the Role
The Mine Site Security Supervisor is responsible for carrying out security monitoring activities according to the security program and supervisor instructions. Key tasks include overseeing access controls, conducting inspections, and managing the movement of personnel, material, and equipment into and out of facilities. This position is also responsible for implementing operational excellence activities within the job holder’s span of control.

What You Will Deliver

• Coordinate with other Security Shift Controllers or Coordinators to ensure effective implementation of the integrated security plan.
• Plan and maintain the duty shift roster for security personnel to ensure effective coverage of the facility and its premises.
• Monitor shift activities and investigate any security incidents, reported incidents, complaints, or other issues during the shifts.
• Ensure all security personnel on his shift are familiar with the security plan, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, and all other relevant policies.
• Ensure all security staff are trained to operate security systems and equipment such as alarm systems, CCTV, and communication systems.
• Supervise and monitor work carried out by assigned security personnel, ensuring effective access control and surveillance of the facility and premises.
• Ensure the execution of security procedures and work orders.
• Plan and manage security personnel work schedules to ensure adequate coverage during assigned shifts.
• Monitor effective shift hand-over ensuring that all activities and any special problems or incidents during the shift have been logged and reported, including the condition of various security equipment and surveillance systems.
• Assign security personnel to security points and schedule patrol duties. Monitor access control and security checks for people and vehicles at all gates, checking identity cards, vehicle access permits, briefcases, and vehicles to ensure appropriate passes for staff, visitors, and contractors entering or leaving premises.
• Perform security inspections, audits, and surveys as assigned by the Industrial Security Superintendent or Security Manager.
• Oversee and participate in security patrols, surveillance, and search activities across the facilities. Monitor the performance of patrol security checks, identify, investigate, and report unexplained objects and potential or actual safety hazards, taking appropriate actions as per security procedures.
• Conduct random checks to ensure the effectiveness of security controls.
• Take necessary actions to control security incidents during the shift in accordance with the Security Plan and Emergency Response Plan. Respond promptly to alarm signals, obtain full incident information from security personnel, Fire Wardens, or Security Control Room operators, investigate, and inform the Industrial Security Superintendent or Security Manager of any incidents. Prepare and submit full reports for review.
• Organize and participate in the personal escort of High-Risk materials, VIP staff, and visitors as required.
• Supervise vehicle parking areas to ensure compliance with premises traffic rules. Regulate and control the flow of traffic and speed limits for all vehicles within the premises. Monitor the registration numbers of illegally parked vehicles as reported by security personnel and implement action.
• Respond to security and emergency cases, investigate, and participate in emergency response procedures as defined by the Emergency Response Plan, providing support to external ER staff.
• Ensure security personnel wear uniforms and maintain neat and tidy appearances. Monitor and maintain the physical and working condition of security equipment, including barriers, lighting, alarm systems, CCTV, and communications systems. Report deficiencies to the Industrial Security Superintendent or Security Manager for action.
• Train security personnel on security procedures, work orders, and emergency response procedures, providing on-the-job and in-post training and guidance.
• Provide recommendations to Shift Controllers or Coordinators regarding security measures, systems, and procedures. Brief security personnel on changes in policies, procedures, regulations, or temporary security measures.
• Ensure security personnel keep records of all visitors, vehicles, and materials entering and exiting the premises, logging various security activities and any incidents during the shift duty. Report significant incidents and security-related matters such as breaches of security rules, misuse of facilities, and inappropriate behavior of staff and visitors. Ensure smooth and effective handover of duties to the next Security Shift Controller or Coordinator.
• Ensure effective administration of all personnel matters, including leave, rotation leave, and emergency contact information of security personnel.
• Monitor and supervise assigned security personnel performance and participate in their annual performance appraisal.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in any relevant discipline and 5 years of relevant security experience.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English; at least medium level required.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Minimum of 5 to 15 years of security experience in an industrial environment, dependent on educational qualifications (5 years of security experience at the supervisor level preferred).
• Previous military or law enforcement experience would be an advantage.
