The Supplier Quality Engineer develops and implements supplier quality standards and supplier quality control systems to ensure supplied products and processes adhere to company and industry standards. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing testing, verification, and inspection, analyzing results, looking for trends, determining plans for corrective actions, and consistently working towards creating or improving processes that enable conforming product delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design and implement supplier quality plans, standards, quality engineering and control capability, testing procedures, and methods for risk reduction of supplied materials, components, or documentation.
  • Perform detailed reviews and provide feedback on 2-D drawings, 3D models, electrical/electronic schematics, and software code during the design lifecycle of supplied products.
  • Ensure that supplier improvement plans are executed as intended and based on sound data.
  • Carry out supplier maturity assessments and propose development/improvement plans as part of the timely published report.
  • Contribute to Supplier Performance Management (SPM), including preventive and corrective action management, and rating of suppliers in conjunction with Supply Chain.
  • Conduct periodic data analysis on allocated suppliers to identify and mitigate potential risks to the business.
  • Participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) to advise on necessary actions associated with supplied parts and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Carry out supplier audits in alignment with an agreed audit schedule, ensuring effective communication and timely reporting.
  • Ensure First Article Inspections (FAI) are carried out in accordance with stated requirements and feedback is provided.
  • Ensure Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is executed according to requirements, and associated deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to build and supply customer-destined products/services.
  • Conduct Incoming Quality verification, validation, test, and processing activities as required, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics or similar engineering field.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified or similar, Chartered Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a Quality Engineering environment.
  • At least 3+ years of experience as Supplier Quality Engineer in the Defence Industry with regional exposure.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance techniques and methodologies (ISO 9001:2015).
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning and First Article Inspection tools and techniques.
