ABOUT THE ROLE
The Supply Quality Management Specialist executes day-to-day supplier quality activities for the mechanical commodity group—investment casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication, electronics, standard and C-parts—with primary focus on First Article Inspection (FAI) review, SCAR tracking, and supplier performance data. The role supports various quality management functions to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

FAI Support

  • Collect and review FAI packages per AS9102 for new parts, suppliers, and process changes.
  • Verify dimensional reports, material certifications, and special-process certifications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Flag non-conformances and route to Engineering/Quality Manager for disposition.
  • Maintain the FAI status tracker across casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal parts.

SCAR Administration

  • Log, distribute, and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) through to closure.
  • Follow up with suppliers on root cause analysis (8D) submissions and corrective action evidence.
  • Maintain the SCAR database and flag overdue or repeat-offender cases to the Quality Manager.

Documentation & Traceability

  • Maintain quality records and traceability documentation in line with AS9100D requirements.
  • Support internal and customer audits with accurate, retrievable evidence packs.
  • Coordinate nonconformance disposition follow-through with Engineering and the supplier.

Supplier Performance Management

  • Support supplier Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) jointly with the Commodity Managers.
  • Support Supplier Improvement Plans (SIPs) for underperforming casting, CNC, and sheet metal suppliers.

Reporting & KPIs

  • Supports the mechanical, electronics and standard parts commodity group.
  • Runs the department report- SQM KPIs. Maintain structured daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
  • Compile monthly reports linked to KPI targets.
  • Maintain audit-ready quality documentation and traceability records in line with AS9100D.

Supplier Performance Data

  • Maintain supplier quality risk flags and feed them into the program Risk Register.
  • Maintain DPPM, on-time delivery, and audit-status data for casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years in supplier/supply chain quality within aerospace or defense manufacturing, focusing on casting, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, electronics, and standard parts.
  • Working knowledge of AS9102 (FAI) and AS9100D requirements.
  • Familiarity with investment casting, CNC machining, and sheet metal fabrication processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
  • SAP/Ariba or equivalent ERP platform experience.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is a strong advantage.
